BMW’s Green Drive

After making an impressive entrance at the Frankfurt Motor Show this month, BMW’s M1 returns with avengance and some impressive fuel economy.  The car is due to go on sale in 2012 and will looks-wise feature ultra-low ride height, active aerodynamics and an aggressive rear end.  The most significant development in the new model and the one attracting the ‘green’ credentials is the 1.5-litre hybrid engine, a three-cylinder unit which will be paired with a powerful electric motor.  The car will offer cutting edge technology and style but the focus for this machine has been performance and delivery rather than creature comforts.
